Film A Day In Your Life

From CSF - Add a comment

Ridley Scott is flexing his advertainment muscles again, this time with the help of Kevin MacDonald for an LG-Sponsored project with YouTube: LIFE IN A DAY.

It's a pretty neat and simple concept - film your day and the 'most compelling and distinctive footage' will be assembled into a film documenting 24 hours on Earth, which is slated to be screened at The Sundance Film Festival. Not bad.

The only problem is what to do during your day in order to make it into this crowd-sourced Koyaanisqatsi. I had a day in front of the TV pencilled in, but that isn't going to impress anybody. I just might have to fake doing something interesting.

Some FAQs here.

Major Minority Report News

Trials have begun in Tokyo of digital billboards that use facial recognition to target specific adverts at passers-by.... Wonder what I'm in need of buying?

Ad Nauseum: Flake

From CSF - Add a comment

It might not sell a lot of chocolate, but it caught my attention. Sure, Cadbury's new ad from agency Fallon is a total re-make of the film from Alexander McQueen's A/W 2006 catwalk show, which projected a Kate Moss version of the film in front of the audience - but it's made by the same director (Baillie Walsh), so it gets a pass.

Fairly epic ad up from Dulux, who've kindly painted your neighbourhood a puke inducing shade.

Celebrate Originality? Star Wars vs Adidas

Very, very strange ad for Adidas... totally lacking in atmosphere. And Beckham shoots first.

Write The Future

Sure, it's an ad from a mega corporation, but ads don't get much more epic than this - just in time for the World Cup. Amores Perros director Alejandro González Iñárritu is the man calling the shots...

And while we're at it, here's a quick Nike salute to LA Laker Kobe Bryant, leading the Lakers into the NBA finals this week. Andre 3000 covers All Together Now on the soundtrack. (via Pitchfork)

Parallel Lines

More entertisment from Ridley Scott's RSA Films. This time they're making films in aid of hawking the latest 'innovation' from Philips - widerscreen TVs.

The films revolve around the concept of a unicorn. That's Carl Erik Rinsch's effort above. See them all and make your own over at YouTube.

Not an actual TV ad this time, just a clever ad installation to advertise the Mini Cooper, post-Christmas.

Ad Nauseum: Adidas Originals

You might have caught this star-studded Adidas Originals campaign on TV this year - a well planned campaign that started with invites going out with a teaser clip, followed by the party/ad itself and even ending up with a Simpsons parody (below). All run through their website, Facebook and Youtube page.

Great concept, great photography and great direction - by Nima Nourizadeh, through Partizan.

Final ad above. You can probably dig out a more legit copy of the final clip on the Adidas website, or see it on the Partizan site.

P.S. Check out Beckham's hole in one too.

He might be selling Nike, but we've always got time for anything by David Fincher. Shot on a RED digital camera, by Emmanuel Lubezki - the man behind the magnificent The New World amongst others.

Not sure I'm OK with VW appropriating The Dude to sell cars, but check out the details of their new campaign over at Creative Review.

Simulated Red Carpet

Nikon won a bronze lion award at the Cannes Advertising Festival for this red carpet simulation in a Seoul shopping mall, which fires off the flashes when someone walks past. Make sure your hand luggage is that flashy handbag we talked about.
