Retro Space Travel
They may be reviving the Cold War, but Russia's Space Program has never really gone into decline. They've always been busy and haven't got caught up in the health and safety issues that have plagued the NASA program. Russia's fleet is built to last.

Moon Smash!
NASA has plans to crash land a probe into the moon's polar surface in order to test for water. The March 2009 mission will hitch a ride on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter - and is all part of the build-up to get humans back to the moon by 2020 so we can get used to space travel and living on other planets, before we can then push on to Mars by 2030.
It always seems strange to me how much we worry about global warning and the rise of Carbon Dioxide in our own atmosphere, yet we're dead keen to get up to a zero-atmosphere rock and then on to 95.32% Carbon Dioxide atmosphere of Mars....

My New Favourite Planet
The 300km high volcano plume might put some people off, not to mention the 300 year old storm, but the views are spectacular.

Alive In Jo'burg
Check out Neill Blomkamp's short film Alive in Jo'burg. While obviously a showcase for special effects, it has some interesting political undertones on various current and recent events - and is superbly done.
He went on to make those smug Citreon ads. He also has another short film online - Tetra Vaal.
