Blast Radius
Think we already covered this way back when, but there's now an updated blast radius calculator available - to let you work out just how vapourised you would be in the event of a nuclear attack. Lucky for us, the bad guys are only suspected of packing low-kiloton weapons at the moment.

Flashy Handbag
Love this anti-paparazzi handbag, which has a slave flash inside and a glittering facade. Any pap flash guns cause the bag to instantly respond, ruining any potentially embarrassing photos.

Beastie Boys Cruiser
Fun, if slightly pointless tie-in from the Beastie Boys: cruise the earth in your own Sabotage style cop car. It's hilariously inept, and all gets a bit Repo Man when you hit a hill and take off.

Extended Johnson
Antony & The Johnsons have a new double-A side out - featuring Aeon and a cover of Crazy In Love, which is sure to become a downbeat party favourite.
‘Aeon’ is one of the glowing highlights taken from the hugely acclaimed album The Crying Light which debuted at #1 on the European chart. The band recently appeared on Jonathan Ross and The Late Show with David Letterman in the US. Antony and the Johnsons’ audacious and impassioned cover of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love”, a long time live favourite, is being released officially for the first time.

You're Just Too Darn Loud
While often noted as the 'loudest band in the world' in the 90's, it seems like Dinosaur Jr may have mellowed in their old age.
As reported on The Guardian, due to a mastering problem which bumped the sound level up by 3 decibels, the band have recalled European copies of new album Farm (review here).
You can exchange your CD on this website. Wimp.

Trailer Park: The Box / Couples Retreat / The Informant!
Steven Soderbergh has another movie in the can - The Informant! stars Matt Damon and former time-traveller Scott Bakula - and plays like a comedy Insider.
And then ....coming to the back of an airline seat near you, Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman and Jon Favreau star in the comedy Couples Retreat about a bunch of couples who head out to a retreat to work on their marriages.
Plus, Donnie Darko's R-Kelly (Richard, that is) has a third attempt to fulfill his potential - The Box.

Yim Yames
Looks like Jim James Yim Yames might be outgrowing the traditional roots of his old band. Maybe they just aren't wacky enough.
In addition to the previously announced Monsters of Folk album, the newly re-christened front man has a solo EP of George Harrison covers on the way, entitled 'Tribute Too'. Recorded on 8 track in 2001, they are now being dusted off and are available to buy from 7th July - although you can sign up and download Behind That Locked Door now.
Yimyames.com also mentions that a 'full length solo record' is 'coming soon'.
The craziness continues.

Out of this world movies
Indie moviemaker site Shooting People don't seem impressed by the contents of the video shelf on the International Space Station - which is disclosed here. Regarding classics such as Beverly Hills Cop (an easy 5 stars IMHO) as inferior, they are running a poll to select more suitable 'highbrow' titles to suggest.

Playlist: 2009 ...so far
We're half way through 2009 and this quick recap shows it's been a pretty strong 6 months so far. Some of the best songs have come from debuts with Titus Andronicus and Japandroids particularly doing it for me this year. Let's hope the next half holds as much promise.
