As you might have guessed from years of Shaw Brothers samples, it's a martial arts showdown - co-written with Eli Roth, Tarantino presents - you get the idea. Starring Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Jamie Chung, Rick Yune and David Bautista, with Grace Huang, Pam Grier, Gordon Liu.

The Amazing Spider-Man
(dir. Marc Webb)
Decent reboot with Andrew Garfield's Spidey a skating loner at school, Emma Stone a great Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as The Lizard (so-so CGI, but some nuance in character makes him a bit less cartoony than the shouty villains in the last three films). Bonus points for the Gonz poster in Peter Parker's bedroom. Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field all add class to a film that's balanced, remembers that being Spidey is fun, has some good 3D cityscape scenes and works despite the inevitable "climb up a sky scraper and FIGHT" boss level climax. Still not quite sure we needed to see the whole "how Spidey gets his powers" origin story again, but overall it's much more enjoyable than Tobey Maguire's webslinger. BTW avoid the 25 minute fan edit of all the trailers - it is basically the whole film, very odd that they'd give away so much online.

League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century Vol III
The excellent @GoshComics have got both Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill in for a signing to celebrate the release of the final chapter in their League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen saga* London, 23 June. Here's a few preview scenes from the final part of what's best described as a loopy psychedelic mystery, bringing the Victorian adventurers (well, whoever's left in the team) into 2009 to take on a magical child, terrorists with a nuclear sub and holy war. It's been a very enjoyable read so far, and from what Kevin O'Neill says in this video, there will be more LOEG stories to come - starting with a Jenny Nemo spin-off Nemo: Heart Of Ice later in the year Didn't expect to see Driveshaft or Fur Q making a cameo...
*if for some reason you've only heard of it because of that terrible Sean Connery film, well, trust in Moore's Law: bad film adaptations = great comics
