Promo Promo: Nine Types of Light - The Movie

TV On The Radio's new album might not be the immediate attention-grabber that Dear Science was, but it's a grower. In support of the album, TVOTR's Tunde Adebimpe has directed an album-length promo, with a little help from his friends.

Warning: there's an 80's video-art vibe to the opening.

Watch at YouTube. Trailer version below.

Thor

Another needless 3D comic book epic ...from the invisible hand of Kenneth Branagh. Saved by humor and Natalie P.

Not as dazzling as Great Destroyer but this puts them firmly back on track after subpar Drums And Guns

Dischord on Spotify

Attention skate-punkers. Ever wondered what that obscure Fugazi track on the 20 Years of Dischord compilation is? (It's good!) Or whether the second Evens album was any better than the first? (No!) Dischord now have their extensive catalogue on Spotify, giving you easy access to Fugazi, Minor Threat, French Toast, Dag Nasty and dozens of others ...so you can listen for yourself.

Some personal recommendations: Egg Hunt and Embrace (both awesome post-Minor Threat, pre-Fugazi Ian Mackaye bands)

Wasting Light

Despite the near death metal opening, album 7 veers more towards classic 70s rock.

From Paris With Love

Travolta Besson = shallow, thoughtless action, offering little more than slow-mo Kung-Fu.

Greenberg

Stylish, but slow and borderline pretentious indie drama with barely any likeable characters. Good OST.

Whip It!

Pacy roller derby fun from Drew Barrymore. Ellen Page great again, punchy soundtrack, warm, wise teen life .

London Boulevard

Utterly derivative star-studded London gangster nonsense. Thought William Monahan had a better rep.

Extract

Slight, amiable, if slightly miscast comedy from the guy that made Beavis and Butthead. With Jason Bateman.

The Tree Of Life Arrives ...Soon

Terrence Mallick's new movie The Tree of Life is having it's Cannes Festival world premiere screening on May 16th - though it may allegedly or not be arriving in UK cinemas on May 4th. Cannot wait either way. I might even go to the cinema to see it.

Visit www.twowaysthroughlife.com for some more vague info.
